It's early spring, and you might have a carpet of this lovely little plant in your yard. While it might look a weed, these tiny purple flowers are important early spring feeder for pollinators, especially several native bee species.
This particular nettle is also edible for humans! It's chock full of vitamins, and makes a great addition to spring salads. Rinse well before use!
Historical uses of this herb include easing joint pain and treating wounds.
